What inspired you to launch your own business?
I love solving challenging problems… creatively. I've had a very diverse job background from being a book-keeper, to being a buyer for Louis Vuitton, to makeup artist, to investment banker (and more!) I've tried a variety of career paths. But, when you have a strong work ethic, a curious mind, and are thrilled by seeing things come together, starting your own business is a natural conclusion. Starting one, simply began my addiction. Since I began Bermuda Bride in 1999, I have started and sold a highly successful floral company called Petals, a design company named Elements, and Bermuda Travel, a high end travel company. Now, I am about to launch a new wedding planning company called Something Blue, which will focus on smaller weddings. Earlier this year, I also started Big Fish Events- becoming the exclusive provider for Sperry Tents. But, if truth be told, I just absolutely love working and creating. The best part is that now there is a direct correlation between my efforts and my income!
What keeps you passionate about weddings?
Wow, well, I’ll admit I have a short attention span, so planning weddings gives me the ability to immerse myself fully into creating something quite unique and seeing it all come together. Each and every time. I love that each couple is so different and the challenges of working together are so different. I also love technology and am constantly fine tuning our process and the software we use to make working with each client a phenomenal experience.
